San Mamolo Basketball history

A Bologna story built around youth development, the first team, education and belonging.

The roots

The basketball section joined the Italian Basketball Federation in 1974 and quickly grew to cover the full youth pathway as well as a senior first team.

Youth development at the centre

In 2002/03 the first team won the Serie D championship and earned promotion to Serie C with a squad made up entirely of players developed through San Mamolo’s youth and Minibasket programmes.

A new phase

After a period in which the basketball section was transferred to Castiglione Murri, San Mamolo Basketball officially rejoined the Polisportiva in September 2024. The renewed project keeps identity, youth development and the educational value of sport at its core.
