Since 1972 · Bologna
A neighbourhood sports club founded to educate through sport, build relationships and help generations of young people grow.
Polisportiva San Mamolo was founded in Bologna in 1972 through a project led by Romano Lanzarini and supported by the local parish community. Its identity has always been that of a “gym of friendship”: a place where sport, education and community life grow together.
Today the club offers competitive and non-competitive activities for children, teenagers and adults, led by coaches and educators who share one principle: the person comes before the result.
From the historic Via San Mamolo headquarters, activities expanded into several school gyms across Bologna. Since 2024, the club has also operated in Sant’Eugenio in the Saragozza district, reopened after flood damage to the Ravone thanks to the work and support of the community.
We aim to provide a warm, safe and familiar environment where competition and personal improvement coexist with respect, friendship, discipline, teamwork and self-awareness.
For us, sport is not only something to practise. It is an educational tool that helps people become more aware, independent and responsible.
Coaches and educators are valued not only for technical preparation but also for their ability to support personal growth. Human competence is an essential part of the sporting quality we want to offer.
